Flanged Carbon Steel Ball Valves
Flanged CS Ball Valves
Why Flanged Valves?
Flanged Ball Valves are utilized in applications requiring accurate face to face dimensions with non-variable distances, as well as providing for easy access and maintenance. Different flanges and sealing gasket materials are available.
Advantages of Ball Valves
- Multiple design selections dependent on application
- Easy and fast to open or close
- Accessories are available such as position indicators, actuation equipment, etc.
- Lighter weight in comparison to similar-sized gate valves
- Bubble-Tight Seals in varying materials dependent on application
Disadvantages of Ball Valves
- Ball Valves are not ideal for very high cycle throttle applications. Seals may wear more than typical and develop leaks.
- Water or other substances are trapped in the ball when placed in a “closed” position. There are designs that may help with these situations such as V-Balls or Vented Balls, contact us for assistance in selection.
Types of Ball Valve Available
- 1-Piece
- Single Body, not easily repairable
- 2-Piece
- Repairable Body, smallest space required
- 3-Piece
- Easily Repairable, all seals replaceable and valve is easy to clean. Different ends are often available for socket weld, threaded end, flanged end etc.
- Top-Entry
- Allows for maintenance without removing from a pipeline
- Split-Body
- Typically reserved for larger sized valve bodies, these are repairable by disasemmbling the body of the valve from a single flange
