Globe Valves
Why Globe Valves?
Globe Valves are excellent for lines requiring flow control. Due to the closing needle and seat shape, the flow is opened gradually, and the needle can be shaped to allow for specific turn-down ratios. Parts are typically repairable or replaceable due to removable internals.
Advantages of Globe Valves
- Good sealing force
- Opens / Closes faster than Gate Valves
- Available in other patterns such as wye or angled
- Seats may be resurfaced in certain designs
- Highly adjustable flow
Disadvantages of Globe Valves
- By comparison to gate or ball valves, pressure drop is higher
- May require a large torque/force actuator for higher pressure
