Direct Mount Solenoid Valves
What is a Solenoid Valve?
A electromechanical device that has a solenoid coil which, when electrified, generates a magnetic field to actuate the valve. In Actuation, solenoid valves are utilized to initiate flow of house air pressure to a pneumatic actuator.
Advantages of Solenoid Valves
- Easy Replacement and Installation
- Readily Available Parts
- Suitable for many control schemes and connections
- Electronic feedback options are available
Disadvantages of Solenoid Valves
- The edge of the butterfly disc will face the flow, and cause mild turbulance
- The disc within the butterfly valve means that there is not a “full port”
Types of Solenoid Valves Available
- 3-Way Solenoid
- Used to operate single acting cylinders or actuators
- The 3 ports are inlet, outlet and vent
- Used to operate single acting cylinders or actuators
- 4-Way Solenoid
- Used to operate double acting cylinders or actuators
- Available in 4 or 5 ports, of which there is typically one main inlet, two outlets, and one or two vents
- Used to operate double acting cylinders or actuators
